May 2-8, 2003. Our friends, Brenda and Paul got married in St. Lucia--a small island to the west of Barbados in the Caribbean. Most of us stayed at the WindJammer--a resort on the upper west side. Just before we left, Julie took her New York licensing exam in order to become an "official" clinical psychologist. After many intense months of study, this trip served as a nice break. Unfortunately, we wouldn't be able to find out how she did until we got back. We had a great time and mostly vegged around the resort for the week. The wedding was simple and beautiful. We met some great people and had a lot of fun. We took a day trip and drove down the west coast to see the Pitons--two massive mountainy things that were really stunning. The drive itself was worth the trip--about 20-30 miles of twisty winding jungle roads with a constantly beautiful view. We ended up going to an art auction that no one showed up to and got a great deal on our first real painting--one we both really liked--a water colour of the Pitons done by a pretty famous St. Lucian artist named Llewellyn Xavier. We were pretty psyched about it and managed to get it home in one piece. The highlight of the trip though was coming home to find "the letter" in the mailbox--Julie had passed with flying watercolours. Now if only I hadn't lost my wedding ring in the ocean. Argh! Julie snorkels for it above. |
